I went to Dr. Germino in March of 2021 for chronic pain of the head and neck I’ve had since 2019 and lower back pain I’ve had since I was a teenager. I have seen several doctor’s since my symptoms started (primary care, neurologist, ENT) who have all dismissed it as migraine and/or occipital neuralgia. I’ve had blood work, referred for an MRI of the brain and CT scan of the brain, all those tests coming back normal. They all couldn’t figure out the root of the problem and just prescribed medication for the pain. Never bothering to further investigate and sending me to other doctors. It has been a frustrating experience to say the least. When Dr. Germino examined me and I explained to him what my concerns and symptoms were, I’ll never forget, he said “and no one has looked into your neck or spine? Why hasn’t anyone checked your neck and spine?” I thought FINALLY someone who understands and listens! He ordered an x-ray of the neck and spine and until I received those results didn’t do anything drastic that might exacerbate my condition. When I received my x-ray results I cried because it got me the answers I needed explaining my symptoms. I discovered I had a herniated disc and mild scoliosis! This was the first time in my life I learned I had scoliosis, though not severe thank God, but it explained the years of back pain I’ve had. Because of these findings I had further testing, an MRI of the neck and spine. Which is what I should have had in the first place like Dr. Germino said. This test revealed I had a cyst in my pituitary gland! I was shocked but happy that the pieces of this agonizing puzzle of mine was coming together. I am currently waiting for the neurosurgeons recommendation to see if I need surgery while also seeing an endocrinologist. At last getting the answers and care I need. This would not have been possible if Dr. Germino did not order the right tests I needed to get to the bottom of my situation. I just want to thank Dr. Germino for listening to the patient and his staff for being kind and professional. It is so important to provide the right care for people that are physically suffering and Dr.Germino demonstrates he cares and is knowledgeable. I highly recommend him!
